A Little known fact

Hot on the heels of Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Kate Nash, Eliza Doolittle is the up and coming name to watch out for.

With numerous gigs under her belt and a slick soulful pop sound inspired by Stevie Wonder and Joni Mitchell, Eliza is certainly making waves on the London music scene. Laura Yates runs the bubbly Miss Doolittle through our Living Questions...

Living... For the City
I live in Camden, North London - I really love it and always go out in that area. My favourite places are the Lock Tavern and there are some great galleries. It’s also really cool for music and I love going to gigs - I’m not a massive party girl but love going out to watch bands. If I go into town, Punk is good fun. I don’t really think I’d live anywhere other than London - I always miss it so much when I go away. If I had 15 houses all over the world, I’d always end up back here!

Living... On A Prayer
I’m not really religious. What I do believe in though is karma and that what goes around comes around. If you do something bad it will come back on you... the guilt you feel will always haunt you. I also believe that we have the ability to make things happen. No, I’m not huge on religion but I definitely believe there is some sort of energy.

Living... for the Weekend
Me and my closest friends would go up to Primrose Hill for a picnic. We’d take some speakers and play good music and take some nice bottles of wine. Then we’d go and see Stevie Wonder play. After that, we’d probably go out dancing into town - maybe a hip-hop club. As long as your mates are with you it doesn’t really matter what you do, does it? I’d probably be drinking cocktails - Mojitos or Pina Coladas. Actually, I’ve recently started drinking port - my boyfriend got me into that. It’s really nice but it puts you out! I shouldn’t really say that should I!

The Living... Years
Actually, I remember been really happy when I was around 13 years old. That age is exciting because you’re just starting to meet boys and have become a teenager and beginning to grow up. I’m really happy now though and I always look forward to the future and say ‘well, you never know what will have happened by then’. It’s exciting to think what may happen with the music in the future but really it’s important to remember that life is now. You don’t know when it may end so I strongly believe that you should live for now.

The Living... Daylights
You know I haven’t really seen too many Bond films. I saw the recent one with Daniel Craig and also watched one with Sean Connery - I really liked them both actually. To be honest, I’m not really a massive Bond fan so I couldn’t name my favourite film. And the Bond theme tune... well it was funny because about four months before the recent Bond film was released, I wrote a song called ‘Murder’ which was about poker and very Bond inspired - it had the descending notes and everything. It would have been perfect for the film but they beat us to it! Oh well! I’m really looking forward to hearing the Alicia Keys and Jack White Bond theme.

Living... in a Box
My mum buys me a new pair of pyjamas every Christmas. It’s really sweet because she lets me open them on Christmas Eve so that I wake up in them on Christmas morning and then open the rest of my presents! And the best present I have ever given... I do like giving surprises. I know! Last year I bought my mum a pair of pyjamas - she was really pleased!

Living... TV
When I have a night in, my favourite programme that I always watch is definitely America’s Next Top Model! That is such a brilliant programme and my boyfriend even likes it too, although it’s probably because he fancies them! We’d probably get either pizza or Thai take-away and some wine.
