Living with... James Blunt

'You're beauuuutifuull, it's true...' And so, with those words, James Blunt stormed to number one - and made himself the man so many loved to hate.

Mind you, they were probably still buying his albums because his follow-up, All The Lost Souls, was certified gold in its first week of release. James is now on a world tour but, thanks to the wonder of technology, we caught up with the self-deprecating English gent on his bus somewhere in the US to ask him the Living Questions.

Living... For the City
I live on a bus as we're on a 14-month world tour right now. It kicked off in January and finishes the beginning of March 09. It has everything you need I suppose but it's still a bus! I have my drummer directly to the right of me and my guitarist to the left...
I used to live in Ibiza which was really nice. I also love London as that is where my mates are. I like to go out in London, anywhere that will let me in really. I like a drink but don't really have a favourite - I'll drink anything.

Living... On A Prayer
Religion isn't really something I like to discuss in interviews as it is quite private to me. What I will say though is that it is important to recognise that we are all humans on the planet and we should look out for each another.

Living... for the Weekend
Well you know, I'm always away with what I do so my ideal weekend would be going home to see my mates. I doesn't really matter what we do. We'd definitely go out. I never stay in at home, even when I'm not working, so we'd go out somewhere - anywhere with decent music and have a dance and a good time.

The Living... Years
A great time was when I was a student at university in Bristol. I'd escaped my parents and school and had that first bit of freedom. Bristol has a great history of music and I spent so much time while I was there writing songs and working with other musicians. It was also a brilliant time for music: Massive Attack, Tricky...

The Living... Daylights
Favourite Bond film? Oh what's the funny one? I'm going to have to ask one of the band (asks). Ah, Casino Royale with David Niven. That was good! And the Bond theme tune (James sings the main instrumental tune). That one! I also just have to say that our tour manager looks exactly like Goldfinger. I dress him in the appropriate suits now and everything.

Living... in a Box
Or on a tour bus... The best present I was ever given was a life time ski pass at the ski resort I like to go to. That was a brilliant present. It has this little Swatch watch on it and I can just wander around and have unlimited ski access. I am a keen skier. Yeah, that was great. The best present I have ever given... I suppose you should ask the people I've given presents to. I usually think of what I like and get them that. Can we go back to that question?

Living... TV
You know what? I don't really watch much TV because of the tour and everything but I'm in the States at the moment and they have some quite good things on sometimes. I really like music documentary type programmes, The Life of Pink Floyd and that kind of thing. As I said, I don't really have nights in as such so instead I'd get out into town and go to club instead - I'd even get them to open it up for us if it was closed.

Going Back To Living... In a Box
No, I still can't really think of anything! I don't even really get people presents when they don't expect it either!

James's single, I Really Want You, is out now. He will also be playing London's 02 Centre on 14th October 2008.
