Liv Tyler – In Her Own Words* (*with the usual help from us.)

She's the daughter of a legendary rocker. She's been an elf. Snogging the Incredible Hulk is just another day at the office then for Liv Tyler...

From little men in green, to big men who are actually green, it's been an interesting few years for Liv Tyler. She's got married, had a son, Milo, split up from her husband Royston Langdon (a "British rocker" apparently – just one that nobody over here has ever heard of) and she's left the fantasy of Middle Earth for the reality of... gyms?

"From when I got pregnant until Milo was a year old, I didn't make a film. I had to work quite hard because I suddenly had 20lbs to lose. I didn't try to lose weight after I had Milo because I was breast feeding, but before I could even come out to LA and meet on projects I really had to lose that weight. I did it, but it was hard work. It wasn't easy. I went to the gym every day. There is no trick to dieting, it just takes a lot of work. For me it took a lot of exercise. Sometimes I would see my personal trainer twice a day. I also did different diets and fasting, and eventually after a few months it was gone." - Daily Mirror

Wow. We guess you really wanted to snog the big green one then?
"I met with the director, and there was a big Hulk in the office and I was like 'oh my God.' And then I was like 'okay, I will be the Hulk's lover'." - Press Association

Wow. Again. That didn't take much persuading then. It must have helped that Edward Norton was involved though?
"He's the best. He is so sweet and wonderful and he did such a great job with everything he did for this film and everything he brought to it. I'm really grateful to have been in it." - Press Association

It wasn't an easy ride though, was it? Weren't there all sorts of clashes over the script between Edward and the powers that be at Marvel?
"Edward wrote the screenplay and they agreed to his story and he was very involved, as we all were... misunderstandings happened, if at all, over the final editing... I don't think it is a big deal... It's the same movie and there's nothing crazily different about it. I'm not really sure why all that happened." - Montreal Gazette

Even so, Norton's been very quiet about things and hasn't done any publicity... oh well, stuff happens as they sort of say in Hollywood. At least the shoot was relatively trouble free. How was it acting with the big green bloke?
"When I'm acting with the Hulk, he's not really there, so there's a lot of things that when you do finally watch the movie, you go, 'oh I get it. I know what the director was talking about and I see what they were trying to do.' When you watch the movie for the first time it's great because it's like you're seeing it as an audience member, because there were so many things I didn't get to see all in place while filming." - Access Hollywood

Tell us all about your character Betty Ross then.
"I'm a scientist, which I know is unbelievable, but I had a lot of good things to do, so it was exciting." - Montreal Gazette

Cheers Liv, that's very enlightening. So what else will we be seeing you in this year? Tell us about The Strangers. Isn't that a violent horror thing? What's a nice girl like you doing in a film like that?
"When I was a kid, I was obsessed with horror movies. It was my favourite thing to watch. Then I remember seeing The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I was like, 'OK, I'm done with the genre,' because it really scared me." - Montreal Gazette

Which would kind of be the point though... OK then. Final question. What happens when Liv Tyler gets angry? Would we like her when she's angry?
"Everyone keeps asking me, 'what happens when you get angry?' - Montreal Gazette

Hey, we never claimed to be original.
"I don't get angry that much, but I did get really mad the other day at a cab driver when he tried to run me and Milo over. I kicked the side of his cab, and he called me every name in the book, it was so horrible. I wished I could have turned into the Hulk at that moment and crushed him." - Montreal Gazette

The Liv Smash, huh? Edward, we think we have an idea for the sequel...
