Natty gets chatty

Natty is a ska-loving London boy with a strong sound. A dynamic new talent, he's recently performed on Later... With Jools Holland and toured with Adele and Kate Nash.

Living... For the City
I live in North London and have done for many a year. I'd love to live in Africa - everyone has got to go there. The spiritual grounding that you get is a lot different to London.

Living... On A Prayer
I'm more spiritual than religious. My religious beliefs are probably closest to Rastafarian and probably Buddhism than anything - more on a spiritual level. I do believe in God but I don't really adhere to the voice of man if you know what I mean. I used to be a Christian and used to be a Rasta as well hence the locks, however, now the locks are more of a spiritual thing in terms of my African heritage.

Living... for the Weekend
Damn, that's difficult! I would see my mum for breakfast in the Dorchester. Then I'd go out and play football with my friends because I'm a big football fan and support Tottenham. After that I'd go out. Can I hire a plane? Great! Yes, I'd hire a plane and everybody tells me I should go to Amsterdam so I'd probably go there. Fly back... in fact no! Why not go to New York?! I'd go to New York and go out there as I hear it's kind of rowdy and cool. I'd take all my friends. Then I'd come back for Sunday, play football in the morning as I play for a Sunday team and wouldn't change that. Then I’d go to a concert where all my favourite artists were playing. I'd resurrect Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Nina Simone and they'd all do a gig for me in my front room on Sunday evening.

The Living... Years
I'd say now is a good time. It's strange really. I used to do music engineering which I didn't like too much because the hours were ridiculous. I'd fill out timesheets and three out of four were over 300 hours in a month. I liked the actual job though and I started at the bottom of the pile making teas. It wasn't until after four or five years in the studio that I really was engineering and producing. It's cool to be the other side now because if you are the artist you are always boss and so I can also do any bit of the other side of it that I choose to do. Of course, I'm well excited about the new single coming out - it's a shame it's not really a sunny July. It's typical - you write a song about a month where you spend time in the sun and you release it and there's no sun! It's nostalgic though...

The Living... Daylights
My favourite Bond film... I like Sean Connery... but I do like that Daniel Craig one. What's that called? Casino Royale? Yeah I like that. Or it would be Dr No, or what's the gold one? The one with the golden woman and the real evil bald dude. Ah, let's just say Dr No! My favourite Bond theme tune... the recent ones aren't that memorable. It's like that with music in general. Some real gems get overlooked. There's some really good music out there and some really bad stuff too. Some real bad stuff gets out put there. Fingers crossed that won't happen for too much longer. I couldn't really tell you my favourite Bond theme tune.

Living... in a Box
Mmmm, that's difficult. The best present I ever received was... I got a car stereo! It was for my first car which was a real old banger and it didn't have a stereo so my dad got me one.

Living... TV
I don't really watch much TV as there isn't anything on. If I had to choose, I'd probably watch a movie. Heroes is good though - that's a good show. Or I'd watch football. I wouldn't cook - I'd ask someone to come round and cook for me. Maybe not my mum though as I've had her cooking for fifteen years although I love my mum's cooking to death. I can cook but not that well.

Natty's single, July, is released on 28th July.
