The Saturdays interview

Fresh from supporting Girls Aloud on tour, The Saturdays are on a mission to bring good pure pop to the charts.

This hot new girl band is made up of Frankie and Rochelle (former S Club 8), Una, Vanessa and Mollie and their Yazoo-sampling single ‘If This Is Love’ is due for release later this month. They might be bubbly, they might be sassy but how will they do with the Living Questions?

Living For The City:
Una: I’m living in North London in Friern Barnet.
Rochelle: I live between my mum’s and my boyfriend’s which is Essex and Greenwich.
Frankie: I live in Essex.
Vanessa: I’m in North London.
Mollie: I live in Surrey. We all like to go out in London though...
Frankie: If I’m going out, I really love Shoreditch.
Una: And Camden – it’s really good for shopping.
Rochelle: If we’re going for a night out though Embassy is really good. We love to go there!

Living On A Prayer:
Rochelle: I’ve not been brought up in a religious background. My mum brought me up to kind of make my own choices. I’m not saying I don’t not believe - it’s quite a serious topic and I think everyone probably believes in something and that’s good to have. I guess I’m a bit more spiritual...
Una: I’m Catholic and I’ve been brought up in a catholic family. I went to mass a lot and I still love it. It’s part of my background. I don’t tend to go very often at the moment as I’m not quite sure where the churches are? It makes me feel really relaxed – I don’t really know why but I think it’s just good especially when things are so busy.
Vanessa: For me, I love having that hour on Sunday just to chill out and have to myself. I don’t really have much time to relax so that’s really nice.

Living For The Weekend:
Una: I’d definitely go away – probably somewhere like Paris. It’s absolutely gorgeous and I love it there.
Mollie: I’d go to New York! I’d like to go the Empire State Building.
Frankie: I would like to go away and be on the beach... but then I’d like to go to all the music festivals here as I love that.
Rochelle: I’d like to go to somewhere like St Tropez for the weekend and hire a private yacht. That was if money was no object though! It would definitely all be first class... at the moment its Easyjet! (All laugh.)

The Living Years:
Frankie: I would say that right now is the happiest time of my life (all agree in unison).
Rochelle: We’re all doing what we’ve always wanted to do which is amazing.
Mollie: Yeah recording our album was brilliant - we’re so proud of it when we listen to it– it’s like our baby. I think when we heard our new single, If This Is Love, on the radio that was like... unbelievable. Actually though, the tour with Girls Aloud was also massive.
Una: Yeah – performing at the O2 was huge. There were just so many people – if you fall over, thousands of people see you, if you’re really good, thousands of people see you. You’re up there for people to just ...look at you. It can be a lot of pressure.
Vanessa: It’s amazing though!
Una: Oh definitely!

The Living Daylights:
Frankie: I like James Bond films – they remind me of when I was little and watching them with my dad.
Mollie: Yeah I love them too!
Rochelle: I like the Casino Royale one.
Frankie: I like the older ones much more. Golden Eye I think as it reminds me of growing up.
Rochelle: My favourite one is where Halle Berry comes out of the sea and she’s got an amazing bikini on!
Una: I think my favourite Bond theme is that one that Moby did (sings Moby’s version of the James Bond theme tune).
All: Oh yeah!
Vanessa: That was a good one.

Living In A Box:
Rochelle: I quite like giving presents. I’d always rather give presents – of course everyone loves to receive presents but I always rather giving people gifts. It gives me more pleasure to do that. I’m not someone who will just lumber someone with a body spray for their birthday. I really like to put thought into it and do something creative.
Mollie: I made my ex-boyfriend a scrap book which had photos and tickets and memorable things. It’s nice to give things which are sentimental.
Rochelle: Yea I did that too– I put plane tickets, cinema tickets and pictures in it.
Una: The best present I ever received was being taken to Paris for my last birthday. I’d never been before and it was lovely and romantic.
Rochelle: I got taken to a spa for my birthday with my boyfriend and some nice presents. That was a really good birthday!
Vanessa: I can’t think.... (they all laugh)
Mollie: Oo I got a Tiffany necklace. The one with the heart.

Living TV:
Rochelle: Ooh, I’d be watching Charmed and America’s Next Top Model. I never miss that without fail. (they all agree). And I love The Hills – have you seen how mean Lo is?!
Una: Oh god, she is obsessed with The Hills (they all laugh)
Rochelle: I am. I love it. It’s my favourite programme!
Vanessa: We’d probably get take-away.
Mollie: Chinese definitely. And popcorn.
Una: When we’re on tour we love having girly nights together. It’s nice to chill out.
Rochelle: We’d get some wine too – probably Rose
Una: Or red...
