Tippy-tappying away all day wrecks havoc on hands and winter clasps
them in a firm grip. Let's face it – your face isn't the only thing
that needs attention during the colder months. What about your mitts?
They want to look young too!
Here's a round-up of the best treatments out there, as tested by
various boy and girl hands around the office.
Dermalogica "MultiVitamin Bodyblock SPF20" £23.80
"My hands have turned crispy crackly, dry and wrinkled with
daily exposure to the elements. Dermalogica's new Solar Defense
System, MultiVitamin Bodyblock SPF20 is the business. One blob of
this before I leave for work sinks into my hands making them flexible
again! My skin is moisturised and I have confidence that the SPF
factor will block out both UVA and UVB rays...the deep winkle maker
and liver spot generator. It's expensive, but I love it and so do
my hands!"
Dermaglow "Advanced Hand Therapy" £45.00
"Dermaglow have combination peptides and natural extracts
including Japanese Citrus Unshiu (a derivative of the mandarin tree
which controls the production of melanin), to help reduce the appearance
of age spots. The Pro Peptide helps to boost collagen production
to tackle those winkles. It feels wonderful on my hands too! At
the more expensive end of our hand cream selection, it` certainly
is a treat for your hands and your handbag!"
Kiehl's "Ultimate Strength Hand Salve" - £10/£16.50
"Winter is really taking its toll on my hands. Since I've been using Kiehl's my hands are noticeably smoother and feel moisturised, my cuticles are even coming back to life. The only drawback - it smells like a flu patient's vapour rub! But the benefits overreach the scent - I will be keeping this salve around."
L'Occitane "Immortelle Young Hands" - £14.00
"A silken, fresh-smelling concoction that wakes up tired skin and is reputed to help eliminate spots from forming which can only be a really good thing. It takes a little bit longer to sink in but is light and smooth, and happily ungreasy."
Spiezia Organics Organic Hand Cream - £23.40
"A lovely organic hand cream with a wonderful combination of rose and citrus aromas. Even if a little oily on application it soaks in fairly quickly leaving your hands soft, subtle and smelling gorgeous!"
Elemis Intensive Hand Repair - £39.00
"How much do we love Elemis? Let me count the ways. I'm a bit of a hand-cream obsessive and this lush and rich cream is powerfully perfect. It apparently fights environmental damage like a superhero and smells of the lovely, limey Linden Flower which makes my hands feel all satiny soft."
Crabtree & Evelyn La Source Hand Therapy - £12.50
"This is an absolutely amazing product. I love all the La Source products but this one is just wonderful! It really is a deep conditioning treatment for the hands. The product isn't really greasy, it soaks into the skin really nicely and leaves my hands in the best shape ever. And a little bit of this stuff goes a long, long way. A jar of this stuff has to last an awfully long time!"
