FEATURE: ALL THE PAIGE
Rose McGowan as Paige

Charmed might be all over, but actress Rose McGowan is still happy to talk about her memories of the show. In an exclusive interview with Charmed Magazine, she reveals all about her cast-mates and her favourite storylines.

What do you think will be the legacy of Charmed?

I think the legacy of the show will be what I’ve always loved about it… Three strong women kind of empowering other girls out there, or anybody, to feel like celebrating that kind of special uniqueness that is them. Whatever powers somebody feels they have personally in their hearts or their minds, anybody can do anything that they want and overcome anything.

Talk about how Paige evolved over the years – how she’s grown, what you like about her now that maybe you didn’t so much before?
I think Paige, as a character, was certainly really unsteady and unsure of herself and given towards wearing floral-knit colours. And I think as her clothes have, she’s also matured. [chuckles] I mean, she’s grown up – five years for anybody, they’re going to change. I don’t think she questions anything about her powers or her abilities anymore. In fact, she usually takes the lead. So I think that’s a cool arc to have.

What was it like working with Alyssa and Holly all those years?
We came to have our own special relationship, you know. I certainly know how to make them laugh. And I just love little Finlay [Holly’s two-year-old son]. He’s a little blessing. He’s here almost every day and I say, “Hello, Finlay, give me a hug,” and he waddles over and gives me a hug, and he gives me these little kisses. So seeing him, I go, ”Where’s my boyfriend? Is my boyfriend here today?” ‘Cause he’s my little boyfriend.

Do you have any favourite storylines from the show, or any that you didn’t like very much?
There were more episodes, such as some guests or different friends of mine who got to be my boyfriends, such as Norman Reedus a long time ago, and Balthazar Getty, and that whole thing was done. That seems like a lifetime ago. The noir episode – just thing that I appreciate over the years.

What about an episode that you didn’t care for so much?
Everyone knows which ones I hate the most. It would probably be a particular nymph episode (season five’s ‘Nymphs Just Want To Have Fun!). And I think the toga episode (that season’s two-part finale ‘Oh My Goddess’) – yeah. And then there’s the leprechaun one (‘Lucky Charmed,’ also from the fifth season). Anything with leprechauns!

Do you have any funny stories about working on the show?
I think I’m kind of the class clown, as much as it doesn’t seem like it right now. You can probably ask any of the crew who’s the klutziest or the goofiest, and I’m probably sure they would nominate me. And I’m known for my horrible aim. When I throw potion bottles, I hit everything and everybody that I’m not supposed to hit. I once hit two people at the same time, smacked off two heads, bounced – oops!
