Alana Aldridge

First down the aisle in episode seven is Alana, who lives in Gloucestershire with her husband to be, Mark, their daughter, Ruby, and her horse Coco.

Alana wanted to do something different for her big day, so is having a medieval themed wedding. She is getting married in the Bay Tree Hotel in Burford.

‘I always thought I’d be going for something traditional, yeah...but this medieval theme definitely suits me and Mark more’

• Alana is having a medieval themed wedding and all guests must be in costume.
• It will be a civil ceremony
• The other brides will have to come in costume

Date: Friday 15th May 2009
Budget: £10,000
Location: Bay Tree Hotel, Burford
Wedding Theme: Medieval
Nightmare wedding: Anything too ‘girly girly’
Bride’s Personality: Alana is homely and likes spending time with her horse, Coco, and her daughter Ruby.

Their wedding: Alana and Mark want the ceremony to be over and done with as quickly as possible so they can move onto the medieval feast! The hall will be decorated with medieval style bunting and they hope to have stocks (there might be rotten vegetables for throwing). The banquet starts at 4pm, with pig roast, hessian table cloths, tankards and medieval fruit pies. Not much cutlery so that guests will have to eat with their hands. They’ll then have entertainment such as riddles, magic and story-telling before the medieval first dance (‘we’ll just see what happens’). There’s no disco as, you've guessed it, the music is all medieval and there’ll be a caller to teach everyone how to do the dances. The favours are farm-yard marzipan figures as Mark is a farmer. Speeches will be given by the best Man and dad, and the groom.

The Food: Mark would rather people use their hands rather than knives and forks. The cake looks like a hog’s head with an apple in its mouth that they can carve.

The Dress: For the ceremony Rosie will be in a big burgundy wedding dress, before getting changed into medieval costume for the reception. Mark will be dressed as Blackadder, and his best man will be Henry VIII.
