Amanda Platt

Amanda is pleased to finally be tying the knot with partner of eight years and father to their four little girls, Nigel

They had both the ceremony and reception at The Sparth House Hotel

‘I can't handle the whole girly girl thing. I don't like the girly screaming stuff. Even my hen night was hard for me.’

• Wouldn’t like anything too over the top or over planned
• Isn’t a girly girl
• Straight talking and honest
• Doesn’t like eating red meat

Date: April 2009
Budget: £6,000
Location: The Sparth House Hotel
Wedding Theme: Northern Knee’s Up
Nightmare wedding: Anything pinky, fluffy or princessy
Bride’s Personality: Outgoing and down to earth mother of four, Amanda definitely isn’t a girly girl. She never thought Nigel would pop the question and now she can’t wait to be Mrs Atkinson and share the same surname as their four little girls.

Their wedding: Amanda and Nigel had a Civil ceremony at The Sparth House Hotel. Amanda had seven bridesmaids, including her and Nigel’s four girls, they definitely wanted a party atmosphere without any airs or graces.
As it’s close to Easter they had a daffodil theme including a donation to Marie Curie and their daffodils as favours for each of the guests.
Amanda is a dancer, but Nigel admits he has two left feet, they were keen to choreograph a first dance, but ended up choosing the Black Lace party classic ‘The Conga’ and getting all the wedding guests involved! Once the wedding date and venue were booked Amanda knew what entertainment she wanted - Ricky Aron, an Elvis Impersonator, she had seen him on a TV show and loved his act.

The Dress: Amanda chose a ‘princessy’ style of dress with lots of pearls, a full skirt with lots of layers - she is shocked that she went for it as she isn’t “a girly girl” and it wasn’t the sort of thing she thought she’d pick.
