FAMILY: She grew up in a trailer park. When she accidentally became pregnant at just 16, Izzie wanted a better life for her daughter so she gave her up for adoption. She still doesn’t have a good relationship with her mother, having rarely spoken to her since she left home.

NOTABLE RELATIONSHIPS: Izzie found real love with heart patient, Denny Duquette. Sadly, after weeks of caring for Denny, risking her whole medical career in a bid to get him a new heart, and a marriage proposal, Denny died, leaving Izzie heartbroken.

OTHER: When Denny died, Izzie was left with a massive $8.7 million check and after contemplating leaving medicine altogether, she had a change of heart and stayed on the program. She is now involved with the Denny Duquette Memorial Clinic.
