Galleries of Justice, Nottinghamshire

History
Located in middle of Nottingham's Lace Market,
the Grade II Georgian listed building is a unique site in the
history of the British legal system. It is the
only place in the country where you could be arrested, sentenced
and executed all in one place. It has been a court since 1375
and is also where hundreds of prisoners were sentenced to be hanged.
This execution took place publicly on the front steps of the building.
The magnificent Victorian Civil Courtroom that
now dominates the Galleries dates back to 1887 was used up until
1986 and was the home to many famous libel and divorce cases.
As well as a court of law there has been a gaol here since 1449. The impressive array of cells, corridors and yards that extend around the building were home to both the condemned and to those who were to be deported to Australia. It is only recently that warrens of medieval tunnels were discovered underneath the building. Today it is an award-winning museum, housing not only the Courtroom and the Gaol but also the largest collection of police memorabilia in the country.
Phenomena
There have been reports of three ghosts that roam the entrance
to the building, a Victorian gentleman, a soldier, and a lady.
Many people have also felt cold spots and have heard knocking
sounds, and terrifying groans in the main court room. Also many
have seen black figures on the balcony. On several investigations
that have taken place, people have caught orbs on camera. Bodies
are buried underneath the ground of the exercise yard. Many people
have witnessed and experienced strange sensations, and have also
seen dark figures. The caves/chapel area is purported to be the
most haunted part. A cross is sometime thrown across the room.
Noises and bangs have been heard. People have been touched, and
stones have been thrown.
Investigation
Derek senses the vast amount of people who have travelled through
the courts and have been punished there. He detects a young boy
in the exercise yard, who might be spotted walking through the
walls. Noises are heard constantly, throughout the investigation.
Yvette hears a retching noise, which sounds like, 'they will never
forget'. During a vigil, the team can't avoid the feeling of being
watched and at that moment an orb flies in front of them. Another
strange shaped light appears immediately afterwards.
