Bouncer
Bouncer came to Dogs Trust from Ireland where he had been taken to the pound by his family. There is no more information about why. He is a very friendly dog who is great with other dogs and has a fun loving personality.
Chico
Taken in by Dogs Trust Glasgow at 9 months old, sadly Chico’s owner had died. Chico was then re-homed and a month later was returned to Dogs Trust as he was found to be too noisy and boisterous for the owner. Chico was then re-homed again and lived with a new family for a year – unfortunately he was returned to Dogs Trust as the family were unable to cope with Chico’s change in behaviour after the arrival of a new baby. In the kennels, Chico has been adept with clicker training. He is good natured with other dogs and likes group running.
Diva
Diva was abandoned in a one bedroom flat with no food and water for approximately 3-4 days. Her rescuer had to force entry into the property. If she’d been left for much longer she wouldn’t be here today.
Dougal
Dougal is a 10 month old pointer. A stray, he was found wandering in the Welsh Valleys where he was picked up by a Dog Warden. Dougal spent 7 days in the pound but no one came forward to collect him so Dogs Trust in Roden, Shropshire, took him in. He is highly motivated by food and gets on well with other dogs.
Gambler
Gambler was an unwanted dog in the pound in Northern Ireland. Springer Spaniels are excessively bred for working purposes there. However, when they don’t make the grade, they become unwanted as they don’t serve the purpose they were bred for.
Gloria
At 6 months Gloria was taken to a local boarding kennels by her owners in February 2008 for a short term stay. However, her owners were unable to pay the fees and did not return to collect her. She was in boarding kennels for 4 months who then asked Dogs Trust to take her in. She is a good natured dog who loves attention.
Jim
Jim came from Northern Ireland where there are greyhounds and lurchers in abundance. There are so many unwanted dogs of this type there that they are lucky if they even make it to a rescue centre. Fortunately Jim was one of the lucky ones. He is very friendly & lively, good with both male & female dogs.
Louise
Louise came to Dogs Trust as a puppy with her sister. She has spent most of her time in kennels in the last 2 years and is well known and very much loved by the staff at Harefield. In those 2 years she has been re-homed twice. Louise is a natural swimmer and did a sponsored swim for charity. She is highly energetic and loves a lot of attention.
Suz
Suz was found roaming in Ballina, Ireland. She’s an “escape artist” with a tendency to run away which could be a reason why she was found as a stray. There are a greater number of stray and abandoned dogs in Ireland than any other region in the British Isles which means there is a greater risk of dogs being put to sleep there. Fortunately Suz was taken in by Dogs Trust. Despite her small size, she has a massive amount of energy.
Sven
Sven is an 1 ½ year old English Bull Terrier cross. He spent 7 days in stray kennels in Liverpool before being taken in by Dogs Trust. He does tend to jump up a lot but this can be over come with time and patience from a new owner. Sven does get on with most dogs but he is a lot to handle.
